What's on your fall and Winter Crafting Schedule?

What’s on your schedule for fall and winter crafting?

Are you a planner or do you just make something that strikes you at the moment?  So many people come into the shop who are WAY more organized than I, their notions, their projects, everything.

But I do carry around in my head, and sometimes on paper or computer file, projects I want to do.  Sometimes I am very systematic about it.  For example, one colorwork, one bulky, one pullover, one cardigan etc.

I am super excited to cast on Jennifer Steingass’ latest pattern “Thistlewood” (find it on Ravelry).  See cover picture.

I have never done any of her designs mostly because they seem somewhat redundant.  This one not so much.  I have chosen bright colors on a navy background.  I LOVE LITLG twist sock, so that’s what I’m using.

Okay so I have two colorwork projects planned.  I want to do a Doodle Deck cowl.  I completed the hat but want something with more detail.  Haven’t decided on which deck I’m going to use yet but there are more and more options coming in.  I am going to use our Laines du Nord Matera yarn, which is a dk and seems like it will be great for colorwork, plus it has a lot of great colors.

I’m well over halfway through a bulky cardigan made with Juniper Moon Farms’ Big Merino Wool.  The pattern is Dark Hollow by Laura Aylor.  We were lucky enough to host Laura Aylor several years ago and I trust her patterns.  This cardigan is in the coat direction. . .you can bundle up on chilly mornings (which we already have) and best of all it has pockets.  It’s a super quick knit so you get that instant gratification.

I’ve picked up my pullover I started last month using, you guessed it, LITLG twist sock and Ito Sensai.  It’s Espace Tricot’s Calliope sweater.  I’ve already made many of their sweaters and they are simple designs.  The result of mixing these two yarns is dreamy and now that it’s cooling off I’m going to speed up the process.  Almost to sleeve separation!

Next time I’ll tell you about my holiday knitting plans.  Happy Crafting everyone!

Jennifer
