I don’t know about you but I’m a yarn addict. What does this mean? Well it means that yarn and knitting are one of the things that I love and have loved a whole lot of my life. There’s the colors, the tactile experience, the rhythmic experience of knitting, the creativity of creating. And the possibilities are endless and inviting. Some of you are new to this craft and have also fallen head over heels with yarn and the different crafts that are associated with it.
In our intro class and in dealing with customers, we see a lot of people who love yarn... but they impose a lot of rules on themselves... how fast they knit, how perfect are the stitches, are they able to follow a pattern (maybe the pattern is bad!), and so on. My message to you is Do what you love, love what you do. Knitting, crocheting and similar crafts are all about passion and creativity, about destressing and finding joy. In the words of the poet Rumi, “Let the beauty we love, be what we do. There are hundreds of ways to kneel and kiss the ground. “
Give in to the colors, the feel, the creative voice within you. The only rule is to enjoy yourself.
